British Values Statement

At Leyland St James' CE Primary School, we actively promote British Values, defined by the Government as the following:

  • Democracy

  • The rule of law

  • Individual liberty

  • Mutual respect

  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

These values are woven throughout our curriculum and daily school life. We believe that teaching and modelling these principles helps our pupils to become respectful, responsible, and active citizens who are well-prepared for life in modern Britain.

Through a range of lessons, assemblies, and enrichment opportunities, children learn the importance of having a voice, understanding right and wrong, celebrating diversity, and showing respect for others. Our curriculum encourages pupils to think critically, make informed choices, and appreciate the views and beliefs of others in our school, local, and global community.

At St. Wilfrid’s, we take pride in creating a safe, inclusive environment where every child is valued, encouraged to express themselves, and supported to develop the skills and character needed to contribute positively to society.
