Blossoms Room (3-4)
Blossoms – 3 to 4 Years
Our Blossoms Room builds on children's growing confidence, curiosity and independence as they move towards their school years.
Children are encouraged to become active learners who are confident to ask questions, explore ideas, solve problems and make decisions.
Our nursery day includes a balance of:
- child-led learning
- carefully planned adult-led experiences
- small-group learning
- communication and language opportunities
- early literacy and mathematics
- creative and imaginative experiences
- physical development
- indoor and outdoor learning
- Forest School experiences
- gardening activities
- local community experiences
- opportunities to develop friendships, confidence and independence.
We provide a rich environment filled with open-ended resources which allow children to use their imagination and develop their own ideas rather than always following a predetermined outcome.
Children are supported to develop the skills that will help them throughout their educational journey, including confidence, resilience, independence, communication, problem-solving and the ability to work alongside others.
Preparing for School
School readiness at Leyland St James's is about much more than learning letters and numbers.
Throughout Blossoms, we encourage children to become increasingly confident in:
- communicating their needs and ideas;
- listening and participating within a group;
- developing positive relationships;
- managing their belongings;
- dressing and undressing with increasing independence;
- managing toileting and personal care where developmentally appropriate;
- making choices;
- following familiar routines;
- asking for help;
- managing small challenges;
- developing concentration and perseverance; and
- approaching new experiences with confidence.
Towards the end of their Blossoms journey, we support children with their transition into Reception and celebrate everything they have achieved during their time with us.
