Seedlings – 2 to 3 Years

Our Seedlings Room provides a nurturing, welcoming environment where our youngest children can begin to build confidence, independence and a real sense of belonging.

For many children, Seedlings may be their first experience of spending regular time away from home, so relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

Children are supported to explore at their own pace through:

• sensory and exploratory play
• songs, rhymes and stories
• early communication and language experiences
• creative and messy play
• physical development
• imaginative play
• indoor and outdoor exploration
• early friendships and social experiences
• opportunities to begin developing independence.

Our environment is carefully planned using open-ended resources which allow children to investigate, make choices and follow their own interests.

Practitioners work closely with families to understand each child's routines, interests, individual needs and stage of development so that their nursery experience feels safe, familiar and enjoyable.

Where children still require sleep, personal care or additional support with toileting, these needs are sensitively incorporated into their nursery day.

As children grow in confidence, we gradually support them to become increasingly independent and ready for the next stage of their nursery journey.
